Transportation, Logistics & Mobility

Growth here is measured in rate requests and contracted lanes.

The three places growth usually leaks in logistics & transport

  1. Rate requests take too long to answer, and the shipper books elsewhere.
  2. Reliability is not shown, so the business competes on price alone.
  3. Growth depends on one or two anchor clients.

These are the first things we test, not findings about your business.

A transportation and logistics marketing agency helps a transporter, freight forwarder, warehouse or fleet operator turn rate requests into contracted lanes, so growth does not rest on one or two anchor customers. Tessmont builds that system and reports it in Command as rate requests by lane, quotes sent and contracts won.

Who buys logistics, and what do they look for first?

The buyer is usually a logistics or supply chain manager, a procurement team or, in smaller companies, the owner. They look for three things before price: whether the provider runs the lane or service they need, whether it is reliable, and how quickly it responds. For courier, moving and fleet rental services the buyer may be a household or a small business with an urgent need.

The first step is to name which of these buyers matters most, because a manufacturer shipping full truckloads weekly and a family moving house need entirely different pages and replies.

Why do shippers book elsewhere after asking for a rate?

A shipper with a load to move often requests rates from several providers and books the first credible answer. When a rate takes hours or a day, the load has usually gone.

The approach is to make rate requests structured, with origin, destination, load type, weight or volume, and timing captured up front, and to route them to someone who can answer quickly. Command measures time to quote. The hypothesis the first review tests is whether faster quotes on the main lanes lift the share of quotes that are accepted.

How do I stop competing on price alone?

When a buyer cannot see reliability, the only thing left to compare is price. Many providers have evidence of reliability, such as on-time records, tracking, insurance, handling standards and years on a lane, but it is not shown where buyers look.

The work builds a page for each lane or service the business runs well, stating what the business itself records about transit time, tracking and handling, and gives the sales team the same material for proposals. Only figures the business can support from its own records are used.

How does this reduce dependence on anchor customers?

Anchor customers are valuable, and the plan protects them. It also sets a steady program aimed at a defined list of target shippers on the lanes where capacity exists, including return legs that run light. Command reports inquiries and contracts won by lane, so the owner can see new business building month by month.

What the first ten days produce

  1. List the lanes and services with spare capacity, including return legs, and the kinds of shippers who use them.
  2. Set up a structured rate request route and start measuring time from request to quote in Command.
  3. Collect the reliability facts the business already records for its main lanes and agree which can be published.

Do you work with 3PL and warehousing businesses?

Yes. For warehousing the lane becomes the facility and the service, and the unit becomes space and service inquiries, qualified by volume, product type and contract length.

What about logistics software companies?

Logistics software is planned like a technology business, around demos and qualified sign-ups, with pages written for operations managers rather than developers.

Can you help with tenders from large shippers?

Tessmont does not write tender responses. The work makes capability, coverage and reliability evidence easy to find and verify, which supports the bid.
